[Talk given by Elder John E. Enslen at sacrament meeting of Siem Reap Branch, Cambodia Phnom Penh Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on January 13, 2008. The talk was given in the Khmer language. The English translation precedes the Khmer.]
Today I want to talk about children.
Tang-nie’-ee nee(h), kee-yome’ jong neeg-yea’ ohm-pee’ kone kah-mang’.
I would like to start with some scriptures from the Book of Mormon, Moroni chapter 8, verses 8 thru 12.
Kee-yome’ jong chap’-ah-dahm jee’-ah moo’-ee kaw kom-pee klah klah pee prey’-ah kom-pee’ moe-mun’, Moe-roe-nie’-ee juhm-pook’ pram buy’-ee, kaw pram buy’-ee doll dop pee.
These verses are taken from a letter that the prophet Mormon wrote to his son Moroni:
Kaw theang nee(h) throw bahn dawk-srong’ pee sum-but’ dial pah-chee-ah-kah-ray’ Moe-mun’ bahn saw-say’ ow’-ee kone broh roe’-bah goe’-ut chah-moe’-ah Moe-roe-nie’-ee.
“Listen to the words of Christ,
“Joe sah-dop’ thahm prey’-ah bun-thule’ nay prey’-ah kree, jee’-ah prey’-ah daw prah-loo’-ah roe’-bah nay’-ek
your redeemer, your lord, and your God.
Jee’-ah prey’-ah ohm-mah-jah’ roe’-bah nay’-ek, nung jee’-ah prey’-ah roe’-bah nay’-ek.
Behold, I came into the world not to call the righteous
Mull joh, yerng bahn moke eye pee(k)-pope-loke’ pome min dahm-bay how’-oh poe’-uk sut-jere-rut’ ow’-ee prie-jet’ thay.
but sinners to repentance;
Thie how’-oh poe’-uk men-nue’ bab ow’-ee prie-jet’ vwin.
The whole need no physician,
Men-nue’ jee’-ah pome throw-kah’ krew pate thay.
but they that are sick;
Thie men-nue’ chew thay throwh’-oh dial throw-kah’ vwin.
wherefore, little children are whole,
Doe’-it(ch) chah-nay’ how’-ee, kone kah-mang’ thoe’-it(ch) thoe’-it(ch) jee’-ah men-nue’ jee’-ah,
for they are not capable of committing sin;
Tah-but’ poe’-uk vwee’-ah pome ott(ch) nung praw-prut’ ohm-purr’ bab bahn lowh’-ee.
wherefore, the curse of Adam is taken from them in me,
Doe’-it(ch) chah-nay’ how’-ee, pee’-uk bun-dah-sah’ doll loke Ah-Dahm’ throw ban yoke jan pee poe’-uk kone kah-mang’ theang nee(h).
that it hath no power over them….
Dow-ee-sah’ yerng dahm-bay coam ow’-ee pee’-uk bun-dah-sah’ nee(h) mee’-ahn ohm-not(ch) thoe ler poe’-uk vwee’-ah bahn lowh’-ee.
And after this manner did the Holy Ghost manifest the word of God unto me;
How’-ee thahm roe-bee’-up nee(h) how’-ee dial prey’-ah vwin-yee’-ahn bor-ee’sot’ bahn sum-dang’ prey’-ah bun-thule’ nay prey’ah brap doll owh-poke’.
wherefore, my beloved son,
Doe’-it(ch) chah-nay’ how’-ee, owh kone broh sum-lang’ roe’-bah owh-poke’ uhr’-ee
I know that it is solemn mockery before God,
Owh-poke’ dung taa jee’-ah gah juhm-awk’ lock lur’-ee daw tah-noo’-un jum-poo’-ah prey’-ah
that ye should baptize little children.
Dial poe’uk kone throw twer bon-jah-roe-mut(ch)’-tuck ow’-ee kone kah-mang’ thoe-it(ch) thoe-it(ch).
Behold, I say unto you that this thing shall ye teach—
Mull joh, owh-poke’ brap kone taa nee(h) jee’-ah gah dial poe’-uk kone throw bong ree’-ahn
repentance and baptism
Goo gah prie-jet’ nung bon-jah-roe-mut(ch)’-tuck

Doll awh nay’-ek nah dial dung kaw nung throw
and capable of committing sin;
How’-ee mee’-ahn sak-maht-uh-pee’-up nung praw-prut’ ohm-purr’ bab

Men how’-ee, joe bong ree’-ahn poe’-uk mee’-it dah bie-dah’ ow’-ee prie-jet’
and be baptized,
How’-ee thoe-thule’ bon-jah-roe-mut(ch)’-tuck
and humble themselves
how’-ee bun-thee’-up clue’-ahn
as their little children,
doe’-it(ch) jee’-ah kone kah-mang’ thoe’-it(ch) thoe’-it(ch) joh.
and they shall all be saved
How’-ee poe’-uk kay nung throw bahn sahn-krue’-ah
with their little children.
Jee’-ah moo’-ee nung kone kah-mang’ thoe’-it(ch) thoe’-it(ch) roe’-bah kay die.
And their little children need no repentance,
How’-ee kone kah-mang’ thoe’-it(ch) thoe’-it(ch) roe’-bah kay pome-jahm-bot(ch) mee’-ahn gah prie-jet’

Er-rue bon-jah-roe-mut(ch)’-tuck lowh’-ee.
Behold, baptism is unto repentance
Mull joh, bon-jah-roe-mut(ch)’-tuck goo jum-poo’-ah gah prie-jet’
to the fulfilling the commandments
Dahm-bay bahm pun prey’-ah pahn-yaht’ theang lie’-ee
unto the remission of sins.
Dial norm moke noe gah pah-die(ch)’ bab
But little children are alive in Christ,
Pun thie, kone kah-mang’ thoe’-it(ch) thoe’-it(ch) rue’-ah noe knong prey’-ah kree.
even from the foundation of the world;
Goo chap-thahng’ pee kom nah’-ert loke kie’-ee moke mah-leh’
if not so, God is a partial God,
Bawh’-oh pome men doe’-it(ch) chah-nay’ thay, nuh prey’-ah goo jee’-ah prey’-ah daw loam ee’-ung
and also a changeable God,
Nung jee’-ah prey’-ah daw prie-prue’-al
and a respecter to persons;
How’-ee jeh er-ruh’ moke men-nue’,
for how many little children have died
Tah-but’ mee’-ahn kone kah-mang’ jee’-ah jer-ron’ bahn slap thoe
without baptism!”
Dow’-ee pome bahn thoe-thule’ bon-jah-roe-mut(ch)’-tuck.”
